A Tauranga fork lift operator accused of the attempted robbery of Summit Superette last week remains behind bars.
Harley William Annas-McGillan, 23, faced a charge of assault with intent to rob when he appeared in Tauranga District Court today.
The charge relates to him allegedly walking into the Superette at about 6.45am on August 2 armed with a BB gun and a knife.
Police say when the accused approached the counter the shopkeeper produced a hockey stick and chased the offender out of the store.
Police opposed bail, but the accused's lawyer Tony Rickard-Simms told Community Magistrate Jack Best that his client would not be making a bail application at this stage.
