A former Oamaru man, allegedly linked to an international paedophile ring revealed by police last week, has been remanded on bail.
The unemployed 27-year-old appeared in the Oamaru District Court this morning facing 41 charges - eight of indecent assault on a child, three of sexual violation, 10 of distributing objectionable publications, 10 of making objectionable publications and 10 of possessing objectionable publications.
No pleas were entered. Judge Joanna Maze granted interim name suppression to protect the identity of the child and mother.
The 27-year-old is due to appear next on April 17 for a post committal conference. No committal is to occur before March 29.
