An alleged arsonist of a Hamilton high school plans to fight her charge.
Name suppression today lapsed for 19-year-old Shari Helen De Wys who reappeared in the Hamilton District Court today, facing one charge of arson.
The charge stems from a fire at Sacred Heart Girls College on November 12 in which multiple rooms were damaged.
It took 60 firefighters to bring the fire under control.
Through her lawyer, Russell Boot, De Wys entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
Community magistrate Ngaire Mascelle remanded her on further bail to reappear in court in March.
Her 19-year-old co-accused appeared at an earlier date and her name suppression continues until her next appearance date in February.
She is also denying the charge which carries a 14-year maximum jail term.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Courtenay Place about 8.25pm.
