The south Auckland accountant who disappeared for six weeks after crashing his car, has admitted charges of careless driving and wasting police time.
Arnold Reedy, was convicted after entering a guilty plea on both charges in Manukau District Court yesterday and will reappear on January 14 to be sentenced.
Police believed Reedy, 41, probably died after his car was found crashed into a mangrove swamp at Kaiaua on the Firth of Thames on February 29.
Blood was found in his car and the police believed he may have been confused and disorientated and could have wandered into the sea and drowned.
Six weeks later he turned up at Auckland Hospital for treatment for an eye injury.
His family said he had had a nervous breakdown.
