The school holidays are over and ACC wants drivers to be "extra watchful" for children when driving in bad weather and low light in the morning or late afternoon.
ACC public safety programme manager Jennifer Brown reminded drivers the legal speed limit when passing a stopped school bus in either direction was 20km/h.
"Drivers need to remember that children generally have poor road skills and at all times it's the adults' responsibility to keep them safe."
