International students paying more than $15,000 to study English at Waiariki Institute of Technology (WIT) are angry tutors have failed to turn up for classes.
They say this has led to classes been cancelled and programmes changed without notification.
There had been at least five disruptions to their classes since the term started on February 19, international students said.
They were so disenchanted they "won't be recommending the Waiariki Institute to people back home," they said.
As well as the tutor problem, the students said sometimes their allocated classrooms were in use by other students.
During the past two weeks some classes had been taught in a tutor's office or under a tree on the campus grounds, they said.
The classes, which were paid for when the students arrived at the institute in July last year, cost about $65 a day.
WIT classes to prepare them for IELTS (International English Language Testing System), which were held last year, had been cancelled without explanation, students said.
