About 200 customers remain without power after extreme weather damaged power lines in the central and lower North Island yesterday.
Electricity and gas company Powerco said high winds damaged parts of the network in the Bay of Plenty Manawatu, Tararua, Waikato, Wairarapa, and Whanganui.
Initially, up to 11,000 properties lost power.
Powerco Network Operations Manager Phil Marsh said trees growing close to overhead lines were a major contributor to power cuts during severe weather.
