KEY POINTS:
A man who abducted and sexually violated a 13-year-old girl may be the same person who approached another child in Glen Eden.
Police are investigating links between last weekend's attack and an incident in January.
Detective Sergeant Megan Goldie said police were contacted yesterday by the family of a girl who had been approached in a similar manner and asked similar questions as the 13-year-old who was abducted on Saturday. She did not get into his car but police believe the driver was the same person involved in last Saturday's abduction.
In the most recent incident, the teen was approached on West Coast Rd by a Pacific Island man in his mid-30s to mid-40s who was driving a silver sporty looking car.
He insisted on her getting into his car so she could take him to the place he wanted to go. He drove her around West Auckland for 45 minutes, sexually violating her in the car, before dropping her off in Glen Eden.
Police are also investigating similar descriptions of a man in a silver car who has knocked on some doors in the Huia Rd, Titirangi area this week, telling people he has broken down, run out of gas or been in an accident.
