KEY POINTS:
The police Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) was called to a Wellington address last night after a man threatened people with a what turned out to be a fake gun.
Police said there was a large number of students near the Tasman Street address at 10.30pm yesterday when a male student produced a gun and started making threats.
The AOS convinced the man to leave the address, believed to be student accommodation, without incident.
They then found an imitation Glock pistol and an air rifle under a couch in his room.
A man was arrested and will appear in court.
