The Commander of the US Navy's Pacific fleet was greeted by blustery winds and spitting rain as he touched down in Wellington this morning.
Admiral Scott Swift is here as part of a three-day tour of New Zealand to meet with Royal New Zealand Navy leadership.
He is being hosted by the New Zealand Chief of Navy Rear Admiral Jack Steer.
"It's a pleasure to welcome Admiral Swift to New Zealand for the first time as Pacific Fleet Commander," Rear Admiral Steer said The visit is part of a regional tour following a visit from the Commander of United States Pacific Command last month, Admiral Harry Harris.
Admiral Swift was given command of the US Pacific Fleet on May 27, 2015 and has his headquarters at Pearl Harbour in Hawaii. NZME np
