Five people were injured when a car ploughed into a group at a bus stop outside Westlake Girls' High School."Staff, students and families have been shocked and saddened by this terrible accident," the spokesperson said.
"We have received many expressions of sympathy and offers of support from the whole community."
The school had organised a collection for the affected families, which was taking place this week.
Boys' High principal David Ferguson said a student from the school was still in hospital.
"He is comfortable, although he has a broken leg, and is hoping to be out in the next day or two."
He said the school and agencies are supporting the boy.
"His friends and classmates have made a video for him, have sent gifts, had a collection for him and staff from our school have visited him as well.
"His immediate family are in China and we have been in daily contact to update them on his progress."
He said the school's guidance department has also been supporting the boys who witnessed the crash.
The police Serious Crash Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
The driver of the car, who was not injured, has been spoken to but no charges have been laid yet.
A police spokesperson said there are no further updates to the investigation at this stage.
