Prices crashed at an Auckland city shop yesterday as a car careered off the road and into the store front.
The driver of the Nissan Skyline was understood to be drifting on Federal St when he lost control of his car and bowled through the front window, smashing into whiteware inside the store.
The floor was full of broken bottles and other debris which had fallen from shelves with the impact.
Shop owner Nassim Malkawi arrived soon after as police assessed the damage.
"When I came here I thought they were joking, it's not like a highway or a fast road, I don't know how this could happen," he said.
Store manager Fadi Chemaissem said: "I heard the sound of the wheels drifting and suddenly I looked up and the car was entering the shop. Next thing everything was flying."
Mr Malkawi said the store would probably have to close until repairs were completed.
