Auckland Transport has confirmed it is in commercial negotiations for a CBD building to house the majority of its staff with rumours circulating the building is the flash Vodafone building on Fanshawe St.
A statement issued to the Herald today said that late last year the board considered a number of options for consolidation of its accommodation requirements.
Auckland Transport has been located at the former Waitakere City Council headquarters since the Super City came into being in 2010, although a number of senior executives have since moved into the HSBC building at the bottom of Queen St.
"There has been a level of rumour and speculation and I can confirm that those commercial negotiations centre around the Vodafone building in Fanshawe Street. It must be stressed, however, that we are some way from finalising any arrangements," the statement said.
It is not known how much the move will cost ratepayers and what will happen with the former council building in Henderson.
