Nearly 900 tickets to the first test between the All Blacks and British and Irish Lions were sold yesterday as the NZRFU's complex balloting system rolled into action.
The Rugby Union said 886 tickets to the test at Christchurch on June 25 were sold after thousands who had put their names in the ticket ballot were contacted.
New Zealand Post staff began contacting people from 8am after the computer-automated ticket ballot was completed on Sunday.
A total of 7100 tickets are available for the Jade Stadium test under the ballot process.
In all, 160,000 tickets are available for the 11 matches of the tour - although there have been requests for 750,000.
