An 85-year-old jewellery store owner has been treated in hospital after suffering a facial injury during a robbery at his Tawa store.
At about 4:00pm this afternoon, a man entered Regent Jewellers on Main Road in Tawa, and after having a brief conversation with the owner, he stole a box containing a quantity of jewellery and ran from the store.
Police said the store owner attempted to stop the offender from leaving and suffered a facial injury during the subsequent altercation.
The offender was last seen running north on Main Road and turning onto Essex Street.
Police said that a dark coloured older style hatch back vehicle containing two males was seen in the area at the same time as the robbery, and have urged the occupants of the vehicle to come forward to assist with the investigation.
