Government-appointed building assessors have begun checking more than 80 homes suspected of having leaks.
The assessments are part of the Government's weathertight homes resolution service, aimed at helping homeowners affected by the leaky homes crisis.
The service has received more than 1850 calls, and about 310 homeowners have applied to use the mediation and adjudication system.
More than half of the applications have come from the Auckland region.
Of these, 84 are from homeowners in Auckland City, 22 from Manukau, 35 from the North Shore, 19 from the Waitakere region and five from the Rodney district.
