Auckland metal industry workers plan to strike next Friday to show employers they are serious about calls for a 5 per cent pay rise.
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little said yesterday about 700 workers had voted for a half-day stoppage.
Their employers had refused to continue negotiations on the key metals and manufacturing industries collective agreement, he said.
