An elderly man has been badly burnt on an island off the Bay of Plenty coast today.
The 70-year-old was burnt by a methylated spirits cooker on Motiti Island at 10.30am, the Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter said.
He suffered burns to his hands and feet.
He was flown to Tauranga Hospital for treatment.
