$6.9m winner in Powerball

A lucky Nelson punter won $6.9 million in Lotto Powerball last night-the third largest windfall of the year.

The golden ticket, sold at the Milton St store, had the winning numbers 3, 12, 25, 28, 37 and 39, and the lucky powerball number 6.

A $500,000 first division ticket was sold at Tikipunga Stationers in Whangarei, and Lotto Strike netted $436,469 for a ticket sold at Harris Road Superette & Lotto in Mt Wellington, Auckland.

The $6.9 million windfall followed a $9.5 million win in Auckland in August and the record win of nearly $18 million in the small Northland town of Kaeo in May.

Levin woman Jo Morgan won $275,000 on Winning Wheel.
