A 6.7 magnitude earthquake has struck Papua New Guinea.
The quake struck at 8.15am (9.15am NZT), 62km southeast of Goroka, at a depth of 105km.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said a destructive widespread tsunami was not expected.
Yesterday a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Papua region of Indonesia, but again there was no tsunami warning issued or reports of damage.
The quake struck at 2:56 am local time at a depth of 66.9 kilometres, some 154 kilometres south southwest of Jayapura in Irian Jaya, the US Geological Survey said.
