The equivalent of all the residents in Whangarei and Ashburton have been removed from the electoral roll after moving home and not updating their details.
Electoral Enrolment Centre national manager Murray Wicks said 63,089 had been removed from the latest electoral roll, the first update since last year's election.
Mr Wicks said the roll's net increase was 39,990 over the past 12 months and 2,887,386 people - 94.8 per cent of the eligible population - were enrolled to vote.
