A 57-year-old Auckland man died yesterday while diving off the Fiordland coast. Alan Stuart Tippett, from the North Shore, was diving with a group of 10 on a charter boat in Breaksea Sound when he died shortly after noon, a Te Anau police spokesman said.
"We're unsure what happened and we won't know until they do the post mortem." It could have been a heart attack or an embolism, said the spokesman.
