A Christchurch Lotto player won $5.5 million in last night's Powerball draw just two weeks after a Te Kauwhata man won a massive $26m prize.
The winning ticket, sold at Stanmore New World, was made up of a $500,000 share of the Lotto first division prize and $5m from Powerball.
NZ Lotteries chief executive Wayne Pickup said the win showed Powerball could be won at any time.
"Our Christchurch Powerball winner will be over the moon with their new multi-millionaire status," he said.
Another player also won a $500,000 share of Lotto first division on a ticket sold at Pioneer New World in Palmerston North.
