The North Island was rattled by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake last night. The earthquake struck at a depth of 120km, 70 km southwest of Patea in South Taranaki, at 9.33pm.
GNS Science said it was felt widely in the North Island and upper South Island. Police said they had not received any reports of damage.
