A jobless man has won the top prize of $500,000 in Lotto's Easter Triple Dip promotion.
The man was made redundant from his Christchurch construction job four weeks ago and was not aware he was carrying around a ticket worth half a million until he checked his tickets at a local outlet a week after the draw.
"The Lotto person said that I was a winner and showed me the printout. I thought great I have won $500!
"But then they said to look a bit closer, and that is when it hit me."
The winning ticket was sold at Northlands Pak N Save Lotto in Christchurch.
