THE Wairarapa Motorcycle Club celebrates its golden jubilee in August, and members marked the occasion at their club day and prizegiving on Sunday.
Founding member Glen Bull was on hand to talk about the club's early days and to pass out the prizes.
President Peter Rowlands said the club is in good heart and looking to make a major investment at the Hood Areodrome track this year.
But he also appealed for offers of farmland so that young riders' interest can be maintained by different surroundings. To that end, riders will be looking forward to joining the Martinborough Motorcycle Club on its new circuit at Tauherenikau racecourse next Sunday.
Profits from last weekend's meeting went to St John's, in recognition of the support ambulance officers give the club, and the food concession was given free of charge to Te Runga Scouts.

l Leading young rider Mason Wilkie was unlucky to miss out on at least one title at the nationals in New Plymouth the week before.
He crashed heavily in an 85cc racing (going over the handlebars) and damaging the bike's rear brakes.
In the excitement of getting that repaired his 125 bike missed out on refuelling, and it ran out of gas, sidelining him.
Wilkie finished up second in the 85s and third in the 125 class.
