A 4.9 magnitude earthquake has struck in the central North Island.
GeoNet reports the earthquake struck 40 kilometres south-east of Turangi, at 7.12pm.
It was at a depth of 45 kilometres.
There have been around 3000 reports of it being felt in the central and lower North Island on the GeoNet website.
