Aftershocks continue to rock Christchurch with a 4.6 magnitude earthquake shaking Canterbury today.
The earthquake at 5.56pm was widely felt in the Christchruch region, GNS Science reported.
It was located 20km southwest of the city and 9km deep.
It was followed by a 3.7 magnitude quake at 6.17pm, 8km deep at the same location.
A southern police communications spokeswoman said they had received no reports of damage.
