4.3 quake hits East Cape

The East Cape has been rattled by a magnitude 4.3 earthquake early this morning.

The 5.46am quake struck at a depth of 33km and was centred 40km north-west of Te Araroa, GeoNet reported.

It was probably felt in the East Cape.
