A large shopping centre fire in Porirua has been extinguished but firefighters remain dampening the blaze.
The fire reached 30m by 30m at one stage and covered multiple shops at the Cannons Creek shopping centre on Warspite Ave and Bedford St.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand received multiple calls at 10.53pm on Sunday night and had 11 appliances and 40 firefighters on the scene.
There were no reports of anyone in the buildings, nor anyone injured in the blaze, a Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said.
The fire was extinguished about 2.30am, but one fire truck remained on the scene dampening hot spots until the fire investigator arrived this morning.
