KEY POINTS:
About 300,000 Auckland households are in for a spring bonus of about $320 after lines company Vector declared its dividend yesterday.
The Auckland Energy Consumer Trust owns 75 per cent of the company and will pay out its share of dividends late next month.
Vector announced a full-year dividend of 13.25c, up 0.25c on last year. This should result in trust beneficiaries in Auckland City, Manukau City and parts of Papakura getting at least as much as last year - $320.
Trust chairman Warren Kyd said the payout had not been finalised but last year's figure "would be sustainable".
The final figure would be determined by any change in the number of households in the area and after taking into account slightly higher tax costs.
Dividends are paid to trust beneficiaries regardless of who their electricity retailer is. Those with their name on the power bill, including tenants, are sent the payment or a credit.
