300m-long diversion around mudslip

Road crews are creating a 300m-long diversion around a slip on State Highway 2 between Gisborne and Opotiki.

About 2000cu m of mud slipped on to the road near Te Karaka, north of Gisborne, on Sunday and the slip moved again overnight on Monday.

Transit New Zealand expects the diversion to be available from noon today.
