About 300 rural properties in the lower North Island were without power this morning following five days of a severe polar weather blast.
There were three new faults early this morning, cutting power to the properties around Wanganui and Tararua, lines company Powerco said.
Around 40 customers were without power overnight where access was difficult or damage extensive.
However, Powerco had arranged portable generators for many of these customers, network coordination manager Dean Stevenson said.
"We are prioritising the customers who have been without power the longest as we work to clean up the damage caused by this extreme winter blast."
