KEY POINTS:
Whangarei police are looking for vandals who went on a windscreen-smashing spree early this morning .
Sergeant Stephanie Hudson said 28 windscreens were smashed, mostly between 5am and 5.30am this morning.
"They were right across the city, mostly in central suburbs," Ms Hudson told NZPA.
"It's a huge, expensive amount of damage."
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
