$25m Powerball win could be in the stars

This week's $25 million Lotto Powerball jackpot could just be written in the stars for those born under the Taurus zodiac sign.

A survey of 104 Lotto first division winners has revealed that Taurus was the luckiest star sign, with 13 per cent of winners born under it.

Librans were next luckiest, on 11 per cent, but Arians and Cancers made up only 4 per cent of winners.

New Zealand Woman's Weekly horoscope columnist Jackie Pope said this was a particularly good time for those born from April 20 to May 20 to try their luck.

"Their planets are exquisite at the moment, so whatever Taureans do now they can't go wrong - although it's only for a few more weeks, then it'll be Capricorn's turn."

This week's Powerball jackpot will be the third-biggest lottery prize ever won by an individual in NZ if struck.

A $28 million win by a Papakura pig hunter in October 2010 was the largest Powerball prize ever collected.

Ms Pope said Taureans weren't necessarily any luckier than others - but they were more likely to trust their instincts.

She warned against Taureans over-investing in this Saturday's draw.

"Don't go and buy 2000 tickets ... it also depends on where they were born, and the particular time they were born, and the dates, as to whether this is their lucky day."
