Dangerous Christmas lights have landed a Hamilton retailer with a $25,000 fine.
Energy Safety Compliance says Evergreen Christmas was selling poorly constructed lights, which presented a significant fire and electric shock risk.
Compliance Officer Richard Lamb says the company was prosecuted for similar offending when it was operating out of Auckland's Botany Town Centre in 2009, and it's very disappointing that legal action was needed a second time.
