Lotto's Powerball prize has jackpotted for the 15th week in a row, with $24 million now up for grabs in next Saturday's draw - the second biggest prize ever offered in the game.
Nobody walked away with last night's $20 million Powerball prize, although one lucky player won a Lotto first division prize of $1.39 million from a ticket sold at Pakuranga Lotto in Manukau.
NZ Lotteries chief executive Todd McLeay said October seemed to be "the month for big Powerball prize offers", with the largest-ever jackpot of $30 million shared by five winners in 2008 and the biggest single win of $22.4 million claimed last year.
"When Powerball jackpots this high, everyone begins to dream of what they would spend the money on if they won. It's a life changing experience," Mr McLeay said.
But players will have to fork out more to enter, with the price of a Powerball line increasing from 50 cents to 60 cents today in response to Friday's GST increase.
There would be no changes to Lotto pricing, which remained at 60 cents a line or $6 for a lucky dip ticket.
