KEY POINTS:
Whangarei is to get a new $21 million police station.
The station, to be built in the centre of the city, will combine all Whangarei police operations under one roof.
Construction will start in November and is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
The existing station was built in the early 1960s and consists of four buildings on two separate sites.
