The true spirit of Christmas was shown to dozens of families and the lonely who took part in the Room at the Inn Community Christmas luncheon.
Close to 200 people were fed at the event held in Masterton Town Hall yesterday - with Santa Claus popping in to hand out presents.
Masterton Community Church pastor Michael Jackson said it was touching to see so many sharing in the day. Many would have spent the day alone or hungry, he said. "It's just brilliant to see the faces. Their smiles speaks volumes. This is what Christmas is all about; sharing with other people."
Masterton Mayor Lyn Patterson, who was part of the organising crew and has taken part at the past four Christmas lunch events, said she was stoked to see so many people fed and happy. "It's so good they can come and share this day..."
Suzanne Cooper said it was humbling to attend.
