A Carterton man was granted name suppression when he appeared in Masterton District Court last Thursday on sex charges.
The accused, aged 20, has pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexual violation and one of indecent assault, at Carterton on September 21 this year.
He elected trial by jury.
Lawyer Jock Blathwayt handed up a letter in support of an application for name suppression. Judge Patrick Grace granted an interim order for name suppression "until the trial, or until the matter is concluded, one way or another".
At that time, name suppression would have to be argued again.
