New Zealand's newest millionaire celebrated with a trip to McDonald's last night.
Gisborne's Alastair Jenkins won the seven-figure prize after spinning Lotto's Winning Wheel live on TV2.
The seafarer was joined at the draw by his wife Angela, and 6-year-old Amy, one of their two young children.
The couple are planning to buy their own home and fulfil Alastair's dream of buying a boat and setting up a charter business, but their first purchase was more modest.
"We're all in shock," said Alastair. "But our daughter knows one thing for sure, and that's that we should celebrate at McDonald's. We'll then try and get our heads around this."
All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin the Winning Wheel. Alastair is the 13th instant millionaire since the game launched in 2004 and the third this year.
No one claimed last night's Lotto Powerball which will be worth about $18m next week.
Four First Division winners each scooped $283,281.
