The million-dollar house sold for a $25 church raffle ticket is being put up for auction. Nestled in the Waikato and with stunning views of Lake Karapiro, the property caused a sensation earlier this year when its owners decided to raffle it off to help raise funds for a new church.
Pastor Murray Smith - who built the house in 2001 - and his wife, Michelle, set up a website called the "Buy a $25 piece of NZ". It attracted more than 45,000 entries from around the world and raised more than $1.2 million towards a new church and community centre.
Auckland man Warwick Hutchinson won the raffle and after owning the property for about four months, has decided to put it on the market. The auction is due to take place on Sunday, July 18.
