The Black Ferns, captained by Farah Palmer, are our New Zealanders of the Year for winning the Rugby World Cup for women.
They went through the tournament in Amsterdam unbeaten before crushing the United State 46-12 in the final.
"New Zealand's superior organisation on attack and defence, an emphasis on ball retention and some sublime ball handling skills ensured there was only ever one team who would win," said a report in the Herald sport pages.
The Ferns scored eight tries to two - five to Vanessa Cootes, and one each to Regina Sheck, Louisa Wall and Palmer. They followed up by winning every World Cup since.
