A teenage driver is facing charges after they failed to stop for police and then crashed their car into a lamp-post in Wellington last night.
Police said they attempted to stop a vehicle on Onepu Rd, Lyall Bay in Wellington about 11.30pm, however the driver failed to stop, increased his speed, and crashed into a nearby lamp-post.
The driver of the vehicle then fled from the car, but was apprehended by police nearby.
There was one passenger in the vehicle and neither they, or the driver, were injured in the crash.
The 19-year-old driver was charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop and disqualified driving.
