KEY POINTS:
A teenager has been committed to trial on a charge of murdering a college student in Auckland last year.
Haiden Mark Davis, 19, will stand trial charged with murdering 17-year-old Auckland Grammar student Augustine Borrell on September 8 last year.
Police inquiry head Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Breach said Davis' counsel admitted there was a case to answer at the final day of a depositions hearing yesterday.
Mr Breach said the trial at the High Court in Auckland was likely to be in February next year.
Mr Borrell died after he was stabbed in the chest outside a party in suburban Herne Bay when it was closed down after gatecrashers arrived.
Davis is also charged with wounding with intent after another youth was stabbed at a different address on the same night. That youth was not badly hurt.
