The second winner of last weekend's record Powerball jackpot is probably waiting for the dust to settle before claiming the $17.7 million prize, a Lotteries Commission spokeswoman says.
The Dannevirke winner, one of two splitting Saturday's $35m Lotto jackpot, came forward on Monday.
The other winner, who brought their ticket in Hamilton, had yet to come forward, spokeswoman Victoria Barton-Chapple told NZPA this afternoon.
Lotto staff had not heard rumours that the winner was a Cambodian family who ran a business near the Take Note store in Dinsdale, where the ticket was bought, she said.
"We've got a feeling they're probably some quite savvy people who are letting the dust settle before they do anything, really, and (are) just having a think about it.
"It is unusual for them to wait this long but for that amount of money they can afford to take their time."
The Cambodian family had reportedly refuted the claim.
The winner has a year to come forward, before the money is put into a prize reserve fund.
