KEY POINTS:
Police have named the young woman who was killed in a car crash in Wairarapa last night.
She was 16-year-old Sharlene Rosemary Rimene, of Masterton.
Ms Rimene was a rear-seat passenger and died at the scene.
The crash occurred about 10pm on Hinakura Road, 25km east of Martinborough.
Three others were injured as the driver failed to take a bend in wet and windy conditions and the car ended 20 metres down a bank.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was a 20-year-old man.
Police said it appeared the passengers were friends or relatives of Ms Rimene.
Martinborough police and the serious crash team were investigating and said it was too early to say whether any charges would be laid.
