A Waikato man has lost his car and had his licence suspended after he was clocked travelling at 162km/h in Hamilton this morning.
Waikato police Senior Sergeant Gill Meadows said a patrol car nabbed the alleged speedster as he travelled on a wet stretch of Wairere Dr between Hukanui and Gordonton Rds this morning.
"It was a male in his mid-20s. He's lost his car and his licence has been suspended and he's been summoned to court...it was quite a high speed."
The speed limit in the area was 80km/h, she said.
"We'd like to remind people to drive to the conditions, we've been getting some high speeds lately. 162km/h isn't great."
