The Government has allocated $1.53 million to the Human Rights Commission as part of Budget moves to promote New Zealanders' rights.
Attorney-General Margaret Wilson says the commission will get the money over the next three years to develop a plan to identify priorities for human rights protections.
She says $886,000 will be allocated over four years for the commission's human resources, communications and policy planning.
The Equal Employment Opportunities Trust will get $2.46 million over four years and $1.46 million is for the operation of a full-time Equal Opportunities Commissioner.
More than $1.32 million over two years will go to the Electoral Enrolment Centre to improve voter enrolment and polling day procedures.
The Government has allocated $820,000 over four years to the Commerce Commission.
This will be used to enforce the new consumer information standard for used motor vehicles.
