BARGAIN HUNTERS: The annual Opaki School plant sale attracted more than 1000 people.
Opaki School's major fundraiser began with customers queuing outside half an hour before it was due to start.
The school's annual plant sale on Sunday attracted more than 1000 shoppers, and raised "close to the 15 grand mark", said principal Dave Finlayson.
"We had a big queue outside at 8am,"he said.
"It was a fabulous day - we were very well supported by the community."
Mr Finlayson said there were about 4000 plants for sale, collected throughout the year by the school's fundraising committee, Friends of Opaki School, and potted by the pupils.
There were a variety of plants on offer, including hydrangeas, roses and peonies and several types of vegetables and herbs, mostly sourced from parents' gardens.
"We sold most of the plants - and there's plenty of interest in the ones we've got left," said Mr Finlayson.
Money raised is likely to go towards a new confidence course and IT equipment.
